Are you utilising your true skills as a Course Provider?
As a business owner it’s important that you unleash your true potential by always focussing on what you do best. At CourseCo we believe that you should never undervalue yourself as a course provider, even if you’re just starting out.
Whether your sales are up and down or steady you should always pay yourself for the work that you do. We’ve been in business long enough to know that course providers that are stressed out and undervalued simply do not make good business decisions. For that reason alone, it’s crucial that you remember to always value your time and energy. Simply put, by undervaluing the effort and work you invest in your course business you reduce your productivity and harm your business.
It’s probably no surprise that many course providers and small business owners we meet do not value their own time. While they might think that they are paying themselves a fair wage, when they divide the number of hours they work every week by their weekly salary they find that in reality they are actually paying themselves minimum wage. What’s even worse is that many other business owners we meet simply see their time as free. This is not a sustainable way to run or manage a scalable or profitable business.
Let’s face it, it’s incredibly common and easy work a full day and then go home to work another 4 hours. But by working late into the night you’re likely hurting and doing untold damage to your course business. In fact, working on admin tasks late into the night before going to bed is probably killing you and your business. You need rest in order to be able to function in work every day and be ready for new challenges. Never forget that if you work to the point that you are burnt-out, your productivity will end up at an all time and unrecoverable low.
Only you as a course provider knows the real work and thought that you put into your business. Ask yourself what you would have to pay someone else of your calibre to carry out the after-hours work you do. The reality is that you wouldn’t pay someone that much to carry out what are in most cases basic admin and data entry tasks.
Whether it’s you or your employees, working late into the evening is one of the worst things you can do to your small course business. Many course providers feel there is no other way to operate, but there is... by embracing technology you can automate many of the tasks that you spend hours pouring over each evening.
The average business owner spends an extra 9 hours a week working on small tasks such as updating excel sheets and chasing staff to get simple answers to even simpler questions. Don’t be that course provider. With CourseCo you can rely on our industry-specific tools for course providers and become a happier, more energized, and healthier course provider.
